1-12-09: Site Redesigned

4-14-2008: For the first time in a while I actually have time to update this! Go me! *dances*. Today for the first time in over a couple of weeks, I think I chuckled, and at that, it was from an away message on AIM, which I rarely ever read.

Let me put into perspective of how this laugh came about, I run Trillian, a windows messenger application that connects me to my AOL IM, Yahoo IM, MSN IM, and 3 IRC Chat Servers. For those of you who have trillian, you know that away messages normally aren't displayed unless you hover over the name of the person you wish to see the away message for.

For some reason today, I opened up a list on my IM called eville (my high school list) when I was going for my normal lists, and I never bothered to close it like I normally probably would. Anyways, Later in the day, while I was waiting on a cd to burn, I grabbed some water and such. When I got back to my computer, my mouse was hovering over a name of an old friend and my eye caught the word "toilet" in the away section of the window. I am still unsure why I caught that because I never read away messages, but apparently there is something about that word that catches my attention :P Anyways, I read the away message (VERY RARE even when I am curious). I won't quote it or anything, but my friend managed to *get this* lose their cell phone to the toilet. *laughs* I got a nice chuckle out of this, thank you! College work stresses me out, and I need stuff like this to make me realize that I still have a life (Even if it is a boring programmer's life).

I know I shouldn't be laughing, but I guess I just don't realize how many people can't live without cell phones. I know that I am likely the only person that would be happier to see my cell phone flushed down the toilet than to see a couple hours of school work placed in front of me. I never liked having a cell phone, and I doubt that I ever will.

I might as well bring up another point. I host websites now, and people always notice that I never answer my cell phone. The reason I hate cell phones is, 1 they are an extra thing to carry around, and 2. I don't like the reception on them. I also decided to add contact tips to my contacts page (explaining what works best when you contact me).

3-2-08: New Image for the fun of it. Props to Jersey7 at http://ronstoppable.proboards89.com.

2-7: How about a blog? Its now up :)

2-4-08: NEW VIDEO!!!!:

Hey all,
Back at the beginning of the video crossover contest, I thought about making a video that would veer away from the standards :P My RS.net Post on this., On October 4, 2007 at 8:57pm EDT, that project began. I had a lot of custom animation and custom audio made for it which I eventually threw out because it didn't meet what I hoped for. I kept the audio track that was recorded here live at my college to keep with the HD audio standards. Although this video is in full 720p HD, I decided to not post the HD version of it due to my software programs not wanting to make the full widescreen in a file any less than 17GB ;) After 49 attempts and 4 months at compiling this video and over 300 hours of my spare time, I am proud to announce its finished. I hope that you enjoy this video... You will learn a lot about our FFF contacts ;) Posted are 3 versions:
Versions: (Removed, Find on Videos Page)
On request, I will give out the full HD version, prepare for a lot of bandwidth usage though :P.

1-27-08: I plan on adding a blog soon (I have got quite a few comments about my rants not having a comments option, so I will be adding my blog :P), however until now, your comments can be sent to phil@matthouse.us and I will post them on this page under the updates.

1-26-08: What a better time for a small rant that really made my day about a week ago. I was in my dorm room at UB and a friend knocked at my door and asked me if I could answer a computer related question. Naturally, I paused the movie and asked him what it was. He inquired "How do you fix an email problem"? I replied "what kind of a problem is it, there are only about 500 possible ways to approach this problem". He asked me if he was too general, and of course I replied yes. I then asked him why he wanted to know. He told me that he was applying for a job at... Get this... UB's IT department. I got a huge smile on my face trying to hold back my laughing. I replied to him, and told him "that may not be your cup of tea". Later I got thinking about this. I call UBIT when I have problems, and knowing more than they do doesn't make me feel confident. This friend told me he was applying to the printing station job which requires no technical knowledge. I still have no idea why a technical, vague question would be on such an application, however I doubt that I will ever call UBIT again when I have a problem. It makes me feel awkward talking to someone who probably knows a lot less than I do :P

12-9-07: Please check this out Project Management. You will definitely get a kick out of it! I know I did!

11-28-07: Guestbook feature added to site.

11-13-07: Photo of the month is updated.

11-9-07: Today I thought that I would take a little time before my test tomorrow to rant about florescent lighting. Before you start bashing me (I know you want to), I agree that global warming is happening, and I am doing my part through recycling. On another background information note, I have poor vision, 20/1200 in both eyes. Glasses, luckily, correct my vision to 20/20. I remember during my entire childhood, I would sit up close to the cathode tube TV and watch them for hours at a time (which I do blame for my bad vision), and when I got my first computer, I would spend considerable amounts of time in front of it (which is also a cathode ray tube). The radiation probably isn't good for me, but I did it anyways.
So, lets get to the actual rant. Whenever I am in a room lit by florescent lighting, I sometimes get these awful pains in the center of my eyes which leads to a mild headache that forces me to get out of the room into natural light. I am sure that other people are the same way. So whats the point? I can safely say that from the little research I did, florescent lighting fools the eye into thinking that the room is lit properly, however with a lumen meter, this isn't the case. Also if you ever film with a camera in a room lit by florescent lighting, you will notice a flicker, just like with cathode tube TVs, monitors, etc. florescent lighting actually flickers at a high frequency that is not natural, and our eyes get increased strain from it to the point where they hurt. Moving into natural light relieves this strain and the pain goes away. Incandescent lights flicker, however it does not go entirely dark for a fraction of a section like a florescent light does, because the filament has to cool before it goes completely dark, meaning it stays lit for that fraction of a second. This reduces strain. I find it much easier to work with incandescent bulbs. (I googled about 80% of the information above)
So now onto the global warming points. Health and Stress to the eye vs saving 30 dollars of energy a year, energy that can be produced through sources like the Niagara Falls (aka cheap, free energy). Personally, I would be extremely mad if incandescent bulbs were banned because of this. I hope that you feel the same way. Oh yeah, I am a true believer of harnessing all of the energy of the falls and using it to power a lot of the US. Its cheap, natural energy that we are not even using to a fraction of its full potential!
Think about it, I am sure that you will find it isn't a hard concept!

10-27-07: I thought that I would talk a little about my nearly 60 pounds in 5 months that I have lost in today's blurb. About a half year ago, I was 325 pounds, yeah, shocking huh. Today, I check in at a much more reasonable 268 pounds. My goal is 225, and that has changed many times. When I first learned about nutrition from a wonderful friend (Josh), I was amazed when he said that I could easily drop weight by switching my unhealthy habits (hot dogs, fried foods, fast food, etc) with more healthy options with high protein, moderate carbs and low fat. The truth is that over the summer, I dropped a lot of weight from eating a lot of chicken, fish, and vegetables, along with a lot of milk. It gets a lot more complicated than that, however I did learn a lot about why my eating habits were causing massive weight gain. Now that I eat healthy, I find that I am full much of the time, and I would hate to go back to my old ways of eating. Goodbye Burger King, hello Salad Bar!
For your enjoyment: I have become a really good chef over the summer, here is some of my work:

10-23-07: With a little bit of free time left over, I decided it was time to finally bring the new FamousPhil Designs into place. I hope that you enjoy them! Big thanks to Mike Berger out in Illinois for the graphics and coloring scheme ideas, and big thanks to my supporters, it really means a lot!
Recent projects that I am working on: The UB Talker (http://www.cse.buffalo.edu/~mikeb), Richmond Hall Council (I am the president), and my normal course load at the University at Buffalo!

10-8-07: Quick update. I have big plans for redesigning this site with new graphics, however as the image below suggests, I need more spare time! Stay tuned for more updates!

9-10-07: Hi everyone! I wanted to do something special for the KP Premiere of Graduation. So I decided to post my graduation photo. Yeah, this is me getting my NYS Advanced Regents Diploma!

9-2-07: Guess I owe a small update. I am feeling under the weather. But I needed to get a photo to a few people, so Here it is :) Enjoy!

8-27-07: After my first day of classes, I really think that I am going to enjoy my year here at UB! I am a part time employee of UBMicro http://ubmicro.buffalo.edu. That means that I have a part time position as a real computer technician! I enjoy working on computers, and hope to be an asset to UBMicro!

8-21-07: Hey everyone! Hope your summer has been as great as mine. I guess its time to update you on what I am doing. I have been working to automate all of my websites using PHP, JavaScript, Java, MySQL, and a touch of Flash. That is what I set out to do this summer, and finally it is done. I will be returning to campus at the University at Buffalo this Saturday, and will become unavailable most of the day until Christmas time. I will be adding to the photo gallery more this semester because I have made it easy to add photos! I have also started that weight loss thing back in May. So far, 35 pounds are off, and another 35 to go to get to my overall goal of 250! Don't be afraid to stay away from the soda and fast food!

7-4-07: Happy 4th of July! Today I spent a lot of the day at the beach. I decided that I would take a photo for the site and post it! Below is yours truly before leaving the beach for the day!

7-2-07: Greetings from Florida in July! Yes, I am in the middle of my vacation! It couldn't be better. I have been spending a lot of my time at the beach, which is not the worst idea that I can think of. However the sun is bright here in Jacksonville and it has managed to give me a lot of sunburn. I will survive it all. It did me a lot of good to get away from all the work for a week and a half!
Lets see here, for a few updates, Famousphil.com will get a new photo of the month come tomorrow. My Aunt: Judy will be providing a photo this month. The uploader is still a work in progress and hopefully will be finished by week's end. I am working on a new feedback section, however that will take time to complete like everything else. Keep your eyes open and who knows what new things will pop up next!

6-17-07: Believe it or not, its already release time for the next FamousPhil.com video. Imagine is by John Lennon, a member of The Beatles. I decided that that would be a great song to do some experimentation with animation. I put together a Sims 2 animation with this song. Besides minor glitches which were from a new program that I am trying, I think it turned out really nice. You may download the new video at: Phil's Videos page
In addition to the video, the Uploads section is coming along. Hopefully by the end of the week, it will be complete! You will be able to upload a file to us and it will be posted on the uploads page. Please note that real humans will be verifying the files before manually posting them to the page. The staff simply thought that this would be the best way to handle it!

6-14-07: Wow, how time flys when on Vacation! A few Updates for you all! First on the KP Video Page and Phil's Videos page is a copy of At the Beginning 2, with me outside where I watch movies and TV (occasionally). I decided to film it to show a few of my friends how big I can make a tv, Ha Ha. Anyways, I decided that I would share it on here also. Enjoy.
In addition, I have also taken down the submit your videos page (new feature) to fix the program and improve it so that dual submissions will not be necessary. It should be finished by the time I go to Florida to visit my aunt (2 weeks!). This upcoming weekend will bring a release of a brand new video. I am doing experimentation with The Sims 2 game, so we will see how that goes (ha ha). The video will go by the John Lennon song, Imagine. Until all this stuff is up... Have a good day!

6-3-07: Wow, its already June! New Photo of the month is now up! We have added a submit your videos section to the site where you can submit your videos or images to us! There is also a contact form up on the feedback page so that you can contact us without having to use email!

5-14-07: Hi everyone! Just an update: The school page is now on the site. I will probably add some stuff from the University at Buffalo as I figure out what I want there.

5-9-07: As you may have noticed, we moved to yet another server... This will be our final move. In the move, we acquired more features. As you may have noticed, a new Image Gallery has gone up. FamousPhil.com would like to thank Brian Wallace for his source code and his permission to allow us to edit it to fit our needs! We also have validated the entire site to Valid X-HTML 1.0 Transitional. We are still working on the background color, however, the new banner is up! Matthouse.us will begin its move to a new server later today.

4-26-07: Welcome to the new FamousPhil.com site. We are still in the process of redesigning it, so many of the old styles are still in tact, with link updates. FamousPhil.com is on a newer server that is able to handle the constantly increasing load put on the site. We hope that you enjoy the new speeds that can now be achieved.

4-26-07: FamousPhil.com has moved to a newer server, the site will constantly be changing as Phil perfects it in the next few weeks!

3-1-07: A letter from Phil regarding SaveDisneyShows.org

I feel that it is my duty to inform you on the 2 sided view of what happened at SDS on black Wednesday (as Greg Isaac, the main administrator, calls it). Greg posted before the main site a news article that any competent administrator would consider posting. I could have posted this at Saveourshows.org's main site, but that would be uncalled for with proper management. The purpose of this statement on this page is to clear up everything, and allow everyone to move on. I see what Greg is doing as logical if I look from his eyes, but doing what he did is uncalled for also.

Let me start from the beginning of what I know when I joined SDS.org (SaveDisneyShows). I joined SDS as an active moderator and soon after, administrator because I saw the weaknesses of the site. A competent administrator, Adam, was forced to leave when he took desperate action to get Greg to change his ways. I was considered competent administration, and from this, I entered SDS and began to clean up the problems that Greg let slide. I also began doing my job 100% of the time, which almost forced me out, but I knew that I was a hope for SDS's long lost hope. I was told many times that it would simply never happen, but I worked toward that goal.

After 2 months and a half (I think), I managed to get the old members, administration, and friends to join back up with SDS. I also managed to get the board started to make it impossible for Greg to take complete dictator control over the site. I also appointed one member to the board because I felt this person had the leadership to help SDS, which was built for the fans of KP. After that episode, In a private conversation, I witnessed Greg turning down Tuc's authority, and Tuc is the founder of SDS, without him, SDS would not exist today. With this, I forwarded it to everyone, and this is what sparked off all the old members to start getting Greg to change. The chat with the board and the old members took place on Friday, February 23, 2007. I got a chat going with all the former administration, and the current board at that time. Everyone seemed to be on my side, trying to convince Greg to change his ways. Unfortunately, Greg had too much self pride, and hence, I asked Adam who really owned SDS. He was not sure, but he emailed IPW (the host) about it, and IPW responded. Adam filled out the form to change ownership, but never notarized it, meaning, IPW claimed he had control. At that moment, I gave Adam the SDS passwords (No SDA information was compromised because Greg bought that plan from the beginning). Adam then locked control to himself to keep Greg out of the site completely until Greg could reason with everyone, this was not a permanent lockout by any means to anyone who could get in, and I was given access after falsely jumping to conclusions, and Greg would have been allowed access after he had talked also. Unfortunately, Greg jumped to conclusions and called IPW who apparently switched back to Greg's side. When this happened, Adam and I took on the inititive to start Saveourshows.org with many other friends that were either former administration of SDS, and administration of KPFW. I do not want to mention names to keep all information secure so they do not get booted from SDS.

Currently, anyone in the middle is making a wise move. Both SDS and SOS have potential, they only need the leadership to unlock their potential. SOS currently has that leadership, and SDS only has partial competent administration. Greg seems to be chaning his ways, but he is far from saving SDS's status. The site's structure on the backend is a mess, I was told this by professional webmasters far before the incident.

To wrap this up, Greg needs to come to either Tuc, I, or Adam and get our side of the story before he can see that it was not mostly our fault. Tuc did demote Greg (and promote me for some reason that is unkown) on MKP (Mission Kim Possible). This is how Tuc showed his furious side. Greg played a big role in this event, and I feel that he has tripped over his own mess, if he would have listened to some of the ideas presented to him on Friday, this would have never happened.

I am sorry to say to SDS members, but I have moved away to a new project. However I have every intention of talking about the incident when Greg feels he can be mature enough to come see both sides and improve the relations of SDS and SOS.

Edit 5-9-07: Greg and I have gotten over this and we have moved on. I still feel that there are many things that Greg could do to fix SDS, but I do not see that happening anytime soon.

11-29-06: System Update: All services are up except for radio, 4 videos are expected before xmas!
